Resident Spotlight: Shirley Richardson “Master Quilter”

To get started quilting, Shirley Richardson took a class with Murray Eckles and started her first quilt, “Trip around the World.” It took her quite a while to finish it, as Shirley had other projects going at the same time.

Shirley has fashioned at least 20 quilts, gifting the quilts to each of her children, grandchildren, and now all four of her great-granddaughters.

“I am thinking there may be a couple more that will need a quilt in the future,” Shirley said.

When younger she crocheted or embroidered all of her doll clothes and still has her favorite doll dressed in one of her creations.

Since moving to Manor of the Plains six years ago, Shirley picked up reading as a favorite pastime, “Oh, and playing Rummikub and hand and foot with the girls.”
