Manor of the Plains has issued a call for entries for the Art is Ageless® juried exhibit to be held March 12 – 18, 2020. Entries of artistic works will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years of age or older to exhibit and/or compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 40th anniversary Art is Ageless calendar in 2021. Artists may choose to enter the exhibit only. For the competition, works are to have been completed in the past five years (since January 2015). There are nine categories, as well as designations of amateur or professional. Works to be entered for judging need to be at Manor of the Plains by March 6. Entries may be brought to the community beginning February 3 at 8 a.m. The Art is Ageless® program encourages Manor of the Plains residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year. Manor of the Plains is a PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America) community. Local competition winners will join winners from 15 other PMMA communities to be judged at the systemwide level. Entry forms and information can be picked up at Manor of the Plains, 200 Campus Drive, Dodge City, or by contacting Kurt Lampe at 620-225-1928 or [email protected]. Or go online to ArtIsAgeless.org to view rules, download an entry form or enter online.
Local senior artists will be celebrated March 12 through 18 at Manor of the Plains, 200 Campus Drive, as the community hosts its annual Art is Ageless® exhibit and observes the 40th anniversary of the Art is Ageless® program. Art is Ageless is a trademarked program of PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America). The program offers senior artists the opportunity to share and display their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity. “It’s inspiring to see the beautiful pieces these seniors have created,” said Kurt Lampe, marketing director. “The joy it brings to them and others is wonderful, and that’s something we want to celebrate and share with the entire Dodge City community.” The first Art is Ageless calendar was published in 1981, featuring art from Presbyterian Manor community residents. Since then, the program has expanded to include a juried art competition open to all seniors age 65 and older. The Art is Ageless exhibit will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 12 through 18 and feature works from local artists. The public is welcome to visit the community to view the exhibit of acrylics, oils, photography and various other mediums, ranging from amateur to professional levels. Winning pieces at the community level move on to a masterpiece level judging to determine which pieces are featured in the annual calendar and note cards. In addition to the exhibit, Manor of the Plains will honor local senior artists during a reception and final exhibit at the community from 3 to 5 p.m. March 19.
