John Van Hook

Executive Director
John joined Manor of the Plains in October 2019. He has more than 30 years of experience as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. In his most recent position, he served as the executive director of Trinity Manor in Dodge City since May 2014.

Joy Wiggins

Sales and Marketing Counselor
Joy started at Manor of the Plains as activity director in January 2005, and most recently served as the social services designee. She was named sales and marketing counselor in June 2021. Prior to joining the team at Manor of the Plains, she worked for 14 years in a similar position at Morton County Health Systems. Before that, Joy was owner of a retail family shoe business. She earned her activity director/social service designee at Pratt Community College. Joy is accredited by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.

Wendi Barlow

Human Resource Director
Wendi worked her way through the nursing department before being named the human resource director in 2014. She previously was the health services director. When not at work, Wendi helps out at her Dad’s horse ranch and spends time with her granddaughter.

Megan Stein

Director of Nursing
Megan joined Manor of the Plains in June 2021 and has been assisted living director, quality assurance coordinator and now director of nursing. She received her associate’s degree from Dodge City Community College in 2015 and her bachelor of science in nursing from Fort Hays State University in 2017. She has worked in long-term care as a certified nurse aide while attending college, as an emergency room nurse for four years and as a hospice and home health nurse for two years. Megan enjoys traveling, going to the lake and spending time with family and friends.

Clara Contreras

Life Enrichment Director
Clara joined the Manor of the Plains team in 2006 as a CNA and was named life enrichment director for health care in March 2020. She is a certified life enrichment director. She previously worked with a sporting company in California before moving to Kansas.

Claudia Avila-Elias

MDS Coordinator
Claudia joined the Manor of the Plains team in November 2019. She previously worked as a life skills instructor and a CNA. She served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant (E5), serving in Germany and one tour in Iraq. She has an associate of science in nursing from Dodge City Community College and a bachelor’s degree in health care administration with a concentration in long-term care from the University of Phoenix. She is advance life support certified.

Dean Gemaehlich

Environmental Services Director
Dean joined Manor of the Plains in December 2019. Before joining our team, he worked for 20 years in a dual fuel utility and most recently in the construction industry. He is a native of Dodge City, Kan., and is working on an agricultural business degree from Dodge City Community College. He is a graduate of Leadership Dodge sponsored by the Dodge City Chamber of Commerce. He’s a member of the Knights of Columbus, Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.

Joey Stroud

Dining Services Director
Joey Stroud joined the Manor of the Plains team as Dining Services Director in September 2020. With roughly 15 years in the culinary world, Joey has experience in various lines of duty. He most recently managed a Dodge City restaurant chain. In Joey’s free time, he enjoys playing music and video games.

Lisa Montoya

Social Services Designee
Lisa joined our team as activity director in October 2004, and was named social services designee in June 2021. She worked the previous 10 years on the production line at Evans Products and helped train new employees in New York after the company was acquired by D’Addario & Co. Lisa attended Dodge City Community College and is activity director provisionally certified by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. She is also credentialed as a certified nursing assistant, certified medication aide, social service designee, activity director and home health aide. She is a member of the Senior Olympic Committee. Away from work Lisa enjoys sewing, crocheting and gardening.
