STEADY AT THE HELM

At Manor of the Plains, service starts at the top. Our mission is to provide quality services guided by Christian values, and each of us promises to live out this mission every day.

Tammy Thompson

Executive Director
Tammy became the Executive Director of Manor of the Plains in March 2022, but she is no stranger to the community. She first worked at the community in 2002 as a CNA, then as a CMA while attending nursing school. She left for about nine years, but returned in 2016 as a part-time nurse and in 2019 was named health services director/director of nursing. She has a nursing background in long-term care, home health and surgical services. A native of Bucklin, she and her husband James have two daughters. Tammy spends a lot of time attending their activities but she also enjoys shopping, doing crafts, and baking.

Heather McDaniel

Director of Nursing
Heather joined the Manor of the Plains team in March 2020 and became the case manager/interim assisted living and home health director in April 2020. Before she joined the Manor of the Plains team, she worked as a surgical nurse, neurosurgical nurse. She began her career working in long-term care as a staff and travel CNA/CMA.

Clara Contreras

Life Enrichment Director
Clara joined the Manor of the Plains team in 2006 as a CNA and was named life enrichment director for health care in March 2020. She is a certified life enrichment director. She previously worked with a sporting company in California before moving to Kansas.

Dean Gemaehlich

Environmental Services Director
Dean joined Manor of the Plains in December 2019. Before joining our team, he worked for 20 years in a dual fuel utility and most recently in the construction industry. He is a native of Dodge City, Kan., and is working on an agricultural business degree from Dodge City Community College. He is a graduate of Leadership Dodge sponsored by the Dodge City Chamber of Commerce. He’s a member of the Knights of Columbus, Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.

Sofia Hernandez

Social Services Designee
Sofia joined Manor of the Plains in January 2023 in dining services but quickly changed positions to become the social services designee. Sofia has her CNA certification and is working on her Associates of Science degree. Outside work she likes to spend time with her four cats and two dogs.

Lisa Montoya

Dining Services Director
Lisa joined our team as life enrichment director in October 2004, and was named social services designee in June 2021. She recently changed her title to dining services director and added to the list of jobs she can do at the Manor. She is also credentialed as a certified nursing assistant, certified medication aide, social service designee, activity director and home health aide. Lisa will stay on as a PRN (a nurse on an as-needed basis). Lisa attended Dodge City Community College and is activity director provisionally certified by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. She is a member of the Senior Olympic Committee. Away from work Lisa enjoys sewing, crocheting and gardening.

Kim Durler

Accounting Assistant
Kim joined the Manor in August 2022 after spending much of her previous career traveling all over the U.S. installing wind turbines from California to Newton. She has an Associate's Degree of Science in Accounting. She's married to Tim, a local farmer and they have two children and one granddaughter. Kim's favorite hobby is putting up Christmas lights and enjoys listening to neighbors talk about how much they enjoy them.
