Meet your new neighbor: Nancy Giebler

In July, Nancy Giebler became one of the newest residents in Manor of the Plains’ Independent Living neighborhood when she moved to the community from Hays, Kansas. Nancy made the move in order to be closer to her son, Steve, after her husband of 62 years passed away in June.

“We have three children, Steve just happens to be the lucky one who lives in Kansas and got stuck with me,” said Nancy.

Despite not knowing much about Manor of the Plains before moving in, Nancy is happy in her new environment.

“I didn’t know what to expect, I’m in the independent part of the building and it’s nice,” said Nancy. “Hopefully I’ll be here for a while.”

Nancy has also found some solace in the social life offered by the community.

“I’ve made some friends and we do some things together…it’s been enjoyable,” said Nancy.

While she doesn’t claim to have any hobbies, Nancy does admit to being a bit of a bookworm.

“I love to read—I read pretty much anything—I have some I’ve read more than once,” said Nancy.

In addition to Steve, who’s an art teacher in Cimarron, Nancy and her husband, Kenny, have a son, Mark who lives in Florida and a daughter, Christine who lives in Colorado.
